About ‘Silent Moments’
“This program invites the audience to tap into the present musical moment. Evocative silences in each work draw our ear to what is both around and within us.”
-KSQ
Mark your calendars! We’re excited to announce our final concerts for 2024!
The Wild Rose presents two unique and compelling programs featuring a lineup of young emerging artists.
Katarina String Quartet joins us on November 23 with their program “Silent Moments”. The quartet will explore sound and silence through the works of Haydn, Canadian composer Vivian Fung, and Beethoven.
And on December 21, the Wild Rose presents “Holiday Nostalgia”. A festive start to the season with works by Jean Barrière, Ethel Smyth and beloved holiday classics.
👀 Keep an eye out for our upcoming posts about the artists and details about our concerts. You don’t want to miss out!
A bit of an informal post, but we wanted to share some pictures from our outreach performance this past Saturday!☀️ The Wild Rose team travelled to St. Albert for a performance to the hospice patients and family members at Foyer Lacombe.
Outreach is a vital part of our mission as we firmly believe that classical music should be accessible to everyone.
We’re looking forward to coming back to the community with more outreach performances in November and December!
September 30 marks the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. We honour the survivors and victims of residential schools and the ongoing impact of colonization and systemic injustices on Indigenous Peoples. We recognize the importance of this crucial dialogue and we are committed to making space for Indigenous voices and continuing our journey of learning and understanding.
Wild Rose recognizes the land we gather upon as Treaty 6 Territory and with the Métis homelands and Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4. We acknowledge this land as the traditional territories of many First Nations and a traditional gathering place for many Indigenous Peoples, such as the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot). We honorably reflect upon the ceremonies, language, history, and culture of all Indigenous Peoples that call this territory home, and we somberly acknowledge the historical and contemporary injustices committed towards Indigenous Peoples; the missing murdered Indigenous individuals; and the ongoing process of collective healing and true reconciliation.
We recognize the Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, and countless generations of Indigenous knowledge and practices as integral pieces of love and care towards this land we gather upon, and the love and care we share with each other. We forever endeavor to respect and honour these teachings, and respect and honour all Indigenous Peoples, and our collective care for mother earth.
We hope you had a wonderful summer! We know we’ve been a bit quiet lately, but the Wild Rose team has been hard at work behind the scenes!
We’re excited to announce that our website officially goes live TODAY! Explore our mission and our people!
